When I look back at my journey so far, the most transformative moments all started with a simple word: yes. I said yes to pursuing my MBA, even though it meant balancing grad school with work, family, and everything else on my plate. That yes reminded me that investing in myself is worth it, and that growth often comes when you stretch just beyond what feels comfortable.
I also said yes when I stepped into my Graduate Assistant role with CBESS. At first, the responsibility of co-managing a $1.2M program and mentoring both high school students and undergraduates felt overwhelming. But saying yes to that opportunity has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It has shaped my leadership style and shown me the power of building others up along the way.
Even starting this blog, Authentically Aileen, was a yes-moment. At first, I worried about whether people would read it or what they would think. But saying yes to sharing my story has been freeing. It has reminded me that sometimes courage looks like putting yourself out there, even when you do not have everything figured out.
Of course, saying yes is not always easy. It has meant long nights, juggling commitments, and walking into the unknown. But those yeses have led me to my proudest accomplishments and most meaningful connections. The truth is, growth rarely happens in comfort zones. It happens when you give yourself permission to take the leap.
As I continue forward, I want to keep saying yes to opportunities that align with my values and push me to grow. I also hope to encourage you to do the same. You never know which yes-moment might change your life forever.
Think back to a time you said yes to something outside your comfort zone, big or small. Share it in the comments or tag me on social media so we can celebrate those yes-moments together!
