There are days when my calendar feels like a puzzle! Trying to fit meetings, assignments, and responsibilities into every hour of the day. I used to think “balance” meant keeping every piece perfectly aligned, but I’ve learned that real balance comes from grounding yourself in what truly matters.
For me, that means starting each day with intention. I begin my mornings by saying five things I’m grateful for. It’s such a simple habit, but it instantly shifts my mindset and helps me start the day feeling calm and centered.
I also dedicate one full off day just for myself, usually Mondays, because that’s when everyone in my family has the day off from working at our restaurant. Those days are sacred. I fill them with things that recharge me: scheduling Pilates on Mondays no matter how busy I get, shopping, hanging out with friends, going to my beauty or pampering appointments, reading self-help books, or grabbing my favorite matcha from Perenn Bakery. Sometimes, it’s just a quiet night in with a glass of wine and a good playlist. Whatever it looks like, Mondays are my reminder that rest isn’t a reward, it’s a responsibility.
Of course, balance also means setting boundaries. I used to say yes to everything, extra meetings, side projects, last-minute plans, and it always left me exhausted. Now, I’ve realized that every “no” creates space for a more meaningful “yes.” Whether that’s saying no so I can cook dinner with my family or blocking off time for a walk, those small acts of self-care keep me grounded and remind me that success isn’t about doing it all! It’s about doing what fills you, not what drains you.
