There’s something about stepping away from my daily routine that always helps me find clarity. This past weekend, I took a quick trip to San Francisco, a city that always feels like a breath of fresh air. Between finishing my MBA this December and wrapping up my GAship with CBESS, life has been moving fast. I didn’t realize how much I needed a pause until I was walking along the pier with an iced matcha in hand, feeling the ocean breeze and watching the sunset over the Golden Gate. Sometimes the best way to reset isn’t to slow down your goals but to change your scenery.

Travel has always been my favorite way to recharge mentally and emotionally. Even short weekend trips remind me that balance is just as important as ambition. It gives me time to reflect on how far I’ve come, what I’m grateful for, and what I want next. On this trip, I spent the weekend visiting friends who live in the city, which made it even more special. We explored new spots, caught up over brunch, and laughed until late at night. Being surrounded by people who make me feel grounded reminded me how important it is to make time for meaningful connections, even when life gets busy.

Each trip also helps me come back with new ideas and perspective. Whether it’s seeing a mural in the Mission District or hearing a street performer near Union Square, travel always sparks creativity. I often jot down thoughts in my Notes app that later inspire my writing, my work with CBESS, or even my next blog post. It’s moments like these that remind me why mindful travel is so important, not just for fun, but for reflection and renewal. Here’s a great article on the mental benefits of travel.

As the semester winds down, I’m choosing to be intentional about taking breaks and exploring new places, even if they’re just a short drive away. Sometimes all it takes is a different view to remember what matters most.

Plan your own mini reset this month, whether that’s a weekend trip, a walk in a new park, or just a day to unplug. You deserve it.
